Screening of Ayyoubé

AiW joined the Department of Communication Arts and the Institute of Media Research and Training at the Lebanese American University in hosting the screening Ayyoubé play which is written and directed by LAU alumni Awad Awad. Ayyoubé is the biography of a Palestinian woman in a Lebanese refugee camp. Despite the horrors of living in one of those camps; Jaber, Ayyoubé’s abusive husband, turns her life into a living hell. Amidst all the unfair treatment, Ayyoubé decides to stay in the house for the sake of her children; defying the logical decision of getting a divorce. The story of Ayyoubé is one that shows success and seeing the light, even after a lifetime of darkness. Three women portraying her in different stages of her life will perform the role of Ayyoubé, showing the Palestinian and Lebanese cultures over the period of 60 years.
