May was not an ordinary month. It held magnificent news to AiW, LAU, Lebanon, and the Arab world! AiW’s Director, Dr. Lina Abirafeh, has been named as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Gender Policy in 2018!

We participated in:

• SheDecides Guiding Group Meeting, that took place in Geneva Switzerland and attended by AiW’s Director
• New Shape Forum organized by the  Global Challenge Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden and attended by AiW’s Director
• The Coalition of Feminists for Social Change (COFEM) Strategic Planning meeting, that took place in New York City and attended by Moufeeda Haidar
• “A Voice of Our Own: Retelling the Stories of Gender Based Violence” organized by Fe-Male and ABAAD and held at Notre Dame University  (NDU). AiW was part of the “Gender NGO Fair” that was followed by launching of the Code of Conduct for Media Coverage on Gender-Based Violence and a discussion about Naseej, a project by ABAAD

We attended:

• Building Alliance for Local Advancement, Development and Investment (BALADI CAP), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), meeting that focused on “Strengthening Advocacy Networks Established under BALADI CAP”. IWSAW is leading the “Human Rights Network” which is one of the three networks supported by BALADI CAP.
• Women’s Access to Justice in the Middle East and North Africa Conference, organized by Oxfam and Connecting Research to Development (CRD)
