On Saturday 2nd of December, 2016 IWSAW participated in a public event organized by the European Union, in the framework of the annual “16 days of activism against gender-based violence”.

The event was held on Corniche-Beirut from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. In addition to IWSAW, participants included KAFA, UNHCR, ABAAD, LCWNL, LECORVAW and some Italian NGOs.

The event was interactive, entertaining and aesthetically appealing, it aimed to raise awareness on early child marriage and other forms of gender-based violence that girls and women are subject to on daily basis.

The activities included KAFA’s “silent witnesses” exhibition, portraying the stories of women who have been killed by their relatives, and a group of actors played various scenes of domestic violence to attract attention, followed by a discussion with the audience, while IWSAW’s animated song ‘In My Hand’ was playing all day, capturing the attention of people and exposing our work to a large network of NGOs.
